Interesting PSB related facts...
Neil's dad used to work for a Swedish
rubber company.
Chris's grandad was in a comedy group
called The Nitwits - he played the trombone,
wore a wig and had a big gout bandage
over his foot that people used to trip
over.
Neil and Chris chose the names for
their first two studio albums from things
that they both say in everyday life
hence 'Please' for the first album and
'Actually' for the second.
Pet Shop Boys appeared on the front
page of 'The War Cry' - the Salvation
Army's newspaper. Their names were also
mentioned in many church sermons - all
because 'It's a sin' was number one
in the charts at the time and caused
controversy between various people.
When 'Please', the first PSB album
sold over a million copies in the US
(Platinum), their record company gave
them a glass dumb-bell called Infinity
as a momento.
Pet Shop Boys turned down an offer
to write part of the soundtrack with
DJ Rap for the Mission: Impossible 2
album.
