Radio
1 Interview with Scott Mills - January
12th 2000.
Scott: "Your next single's got
another long title ..."
Neil: "Another long title ...
'You Only Tell Me You Love Me When You're
Drunk'."
Scott: "Is this from personal
experience?"
Neil: "(Laughs) Yes it is. I think
it's a very British experience."
Scott: "Very!"
Neil: "And the song's about, if
you tell someone you love them when
you're drunk, are you saying it because
you're drunk, therefore you've lost
your inhibitions ..."
Scott: "And you mean it."
Neil: "Yeah, because you actually
mean it, or are you saying it because
you're drunk and just trying to (starts
laughing) pick someone up? (All laugh).
The question isn't answered, but it
is asked in the song. It's one of the
songs on the new album - I think it
sounds quite Country really."
Scott: "I've heard talk of a musical
as well"
Neil: "Yeah, we've written a musical.
We've been working on it for about four
years now ..."
Scott: "Will it be a theatre jobbie?"
Neil: "Actually, we may not do
it in the theatre, cause of the way
it works ...but it yeah, it probably
will be a West End thing."
Scott: "How did you feel doing
the American tour? Were you worried?"
Neil: "Yeah, we were a bit apprehensive
to what our audience would be like.
We have a very, very strong crossover
audience there, but actually the response
to the album has been fantastic."
Scott: "Your gig in New York sold
out in 20 minutes?"
Neil:: "Yeah! I heard that. It
was a really fantastic reaction."
Scott: "How do you feel about
the state of Pop at the moment, 'cause
you like all sorts of music don't you?"
Neil: "Oh yeah, I like all sorts
of things. Pop's very unfocused at the
minute, you know what I mean? I'm a
bit bored with the Boyband thing in
Britain."
Scott: "You think it needs to
go in a new direction?"
Neil: "I just think it's very
uncreative. You know, I like it when
Pop music's really creative - it's got
that industrial formula. It's just not
very exciting."
